Ever wonder why Boston cabs cost so damn much? Or why they never seem stop even though they’re empty? Antiquated regulations prevent Cambridge cabs from picking up passengers in Boston (and vice versa), forcing cabbies to take expensive empty trips back across the river, even though there are fares to be had.
I’m looking forward to seeing services such as Uber change the economics of the system and pressure regulators to update their 1931 industry rules.
